Responsible fasting

Your health comes first. Always.

OMAD can be a great fit for many adults. It is not for everyone, and it should never become extreme. Here is how we think about it on OneMealADay.com.

OMAD is personal. Your health comes first.

OMAD is not right for everyone.

People who are pregnant, under 18, have a history of eating disorders, take glucose-lowering medication, or have medical conditions should speak with a qualified healthcare professional before starting any fasting protocol.

OneMealADay.com is for tracking, education, accountability, and community — not medical advice. Listen to your body, and avoid extremes.

Signs to ease up

  • Sustained dizziness, weakness, or fainting
  • Persistent low mood or apathy
  • Obsessive thoughts about food, body, or window length
  • Sleep disruption or rebound binge eating
  • Worsening relationships with food or with your body

If you notice these, take a break, add meals back, and consider talking to a clinician.

Not the right time for OMAD

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Under 18 years old
  • History of eating disorders or disordered eating
  • Type 1 diabetes, or type 2 diabetes on insulin / sulfonylureas without medical supervision
  • On medications affected by meals or fasting — talk to your prescriber first
  • Adrenal, thyroid, or other endocrine conditions without medical supervision
  • Active eating-disorder recovery
  • Underweight or low body fat
  • Any medical concern you'd want to check with a clinician about

Talk to a qualified healthcare professional. There may be other options that suit you better right now.

OMAD is personal. Your health comes first.

OneMealADay.com is for tracking, education, accountability, and community — not medical advice. We avoid extremes by design.

Compete against your own history.

Challenges are framed around consistency and self-comparison, not the shortest possible window.

Talk to your doctor first.

Fasting is not for everyone — including some people with diabetes, blood-pressure or thyroid conditions, or anyone on medications affected by meals.

Listen to your body.

Lightheadedness, low mood, sleep disruption, or obsessive thoughts are signals to ease up. We will never glamorize unsafe behavior.
